Hear From Actual Participants!

Don't just take our word for it! Hear from some of our past participants as to why you should sign up for one of our Short-Term Homestay programs!

"I was 14 when I took my trip to Kansas for a month, it was an incredible experience. It is true that at first I was nervous but it passed as soon as I saw my host family, they are incredible and welcoming people. We carry out many activities together to integrate myself into American life. I met a lot of people, I learned English and about American culture, I also had the chance to celebrate the 4th of July surrounded by my American family and friends. Without a doubt it is an experience that I would repeat a thousand times more, it also helped me to grow as a person and to be more independent."

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

WHEN ARE THE GROUP TRIPS OFFERED?

Any high school student between the ages of 14 - 17 years of age can apply for either the American School Experience or the Summer Homestay. You should also have a good level of both written and spoken English (studied at least two years). You should also be open to new experiences and excited to live with an American host family.    United Studies offers Short-Term Homestay options during the school year (typically late fall to early spring excluding the holiday season in December) as well the summer.

CAN I CHOOSE MY WON DESTINATION?

HOW LONG ARE THE SHORT-TERM HOMESTAYS?

United Studies works with International Partners in many countries to determine what locations we send the Short-Term Homestay groups to. Please contact us (or your sending organization) to find out what destinations are available to you!    Typically the American School Experience is a two-week program, whereas the Short-Term Summer Homestay is typically a four-week program.

WILL MY HOST FAMILY HAVE KIDS?

MY BEST FRIEND IS COMING ON THE SAME HOMESTAY, CAN WE STAY WITH THE SAME HOST FAMILY?

Not necessarily. Just as you must be flexible about living in any type of area for your homestay, you should also be open to living in any type of family. Our host families are diverse and can be couples without children, single parents, families with young children and/or teenagers, or retirees.    While we do allow families to host two students during short-term homestays, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to stay with your best friend or someone else from your group.

HOW DO I APPLY?

All of our participants for this program must come through a sending agency in their home country. To find a sending agency in your country and learn about the application process, please contact us today and we will be happy to connect you with a partner in your country!
