Camp Counselor

Comments from Melony

Why do you want to be a J-1 camp counselor?
Because I love summer, children, playing and being outdoors. Honestly, just the thought of being around children daily makes my day, keeps me going, and warms my heart. Just being by them side each day and seeing their little happy faces all around me. Ensuring they are okay once I am there.

Why do you want to work with children and what will you accomplish in doing so?
I am really good with children. They enjoy spending time with me more than they even do with their own parents and families. All who know me, know that am very great and children always love me whether I just meet them for the first time or not. Like I knew them way before because we adapt to each other. I have many ideas about activities we can do together and things to teach them especially at their fundamental stages. I will accomplish the joy and smile in their eyes and face which always lighten my heart. Hence this will contribute significantly to my skill building, leadership, training, and enrichment opportunities that cannot be found anywhere else.

What attributes do you have that would make you a good role model?
I am committed to the desired goal and am willing to invest the necessary time and effort to achieve success in whatever I do. I don't give up easily and I persevere when confronted by obstacles or fair. I am hardworking, selfless and accepting of others, am driven with passion and the ability to inspire especially with my story. I know am a role model because my godson and cousins look at me and say they wish I was their godmother too. I believe this is my purpose in life to be advocate for children also.
